Website Update Progress
You may have noticed some differences in the comment section of the site. I’ve been hard at work making some changes for both aesthetics and function. The comments have a cleaner look to them now (hopefully you agree) and I’ve added some buttons to the reply window to make customizing your comments a bit easier. I’ve incorporated Gravatars in the comments as well. These are Globally Recognized Avatars that go with you from site to site whenever you leave comments (as long as the site has them implemented). Right now you’ll see a lot of 2P Start buttons as defaults, so go ahead and sign up at Gravatar to get your own! Be warned, mine is still not showing up and it’s been a few days, so it may take a week or more for it to show up.
How do I use Gravatars, now that I have an account? Are they tied to my E-Mail, now, or something?
Yes, when you post a comment, use the same email address as the one you used to sign up with Gravatar. The Gravatar system seems to be a bit slow in updating their database or something, so it may take a couple weeks before you start seeing your Gravatar.
PS: The only reason you’re seeing mine is because I modified the code to grab it from my own site. If it was linked to Gravatar, you’d still be seeing the default image.
i’ve always questioned the practicality of avatars, but i have to admit, that’s pretty nifty
