Valentine’s Day is around the corner and no one can accuse us of holding back the love as we discuss why the PS3 may emerge as a powerhouse console in 2008! Plus, a fan request results in a commitment from Tim and Ray that the fans should appreciate!

You are SOO RIIIGHT Ray! I’ve been trying to wrap my brain around how much Matt C. sucks at Smash for a long time now. I was getting kinda riled up just listening to your little rant. (BTW did you actually edit part of it out? Cause you shouldn’t have, I was so glad to hear other people speaking out against such atrocities. (up b… no really, UP B PLEASE!!! )
You can tell from many of the other podcasts, that he doesn’t really like Smash, and he sucks at most video games in general. Even Bozon and the other editors are quick to point this out. Smash Brothers is obviously better than SMG or MP3, but if you’re going to say otherwise, please give us some substantial reasoning! (BTW I listened to the first part of that podcast, but they started listing off a bunch of characters, so I stopped it before I heard any spoilers… So did they mention all the new characters?)
I’ve just been annoyed for so long at IGN, because when it comes to my favorite game, (Smash) they suck balls at covering it. I wish they would get someone who can play the game to cover it, and review it when it comes out. Maybe I’m being extra harsh, cause I’m a competitive player. (I use advanced techs such as wavedashing and L-Canceling and am fairly nimble, but I still don’t get very far in the few tourneys I’ve been to.)
Well, thank goodness for smashboards, (and 2PSTART!?) where the real coverage of Brawl takes place. (And yes, there’s negative criticism there too, it isn’t all blind fandom.)
Ray, I’m looking for a perfect 10 from you come Brawl time… otherwise you suck. HA!, JK… but seriously… 😉 Actually, I’d like you consider that the game’s fighting mechanics MAY HAVE been dumbed down a bit to be easier… and allow that to affect your final score.
Thanks for the kind words. For the record, yes, there was quite a bit edited out, but I kept what was most interesting to the listeners. And yes, IGN’s Wii-k in Review Podcast has blatant spoilers. I was a bit taken back by Mark Bozon’s ridiculous disregard to those who want to remain spoiler-free. “…and by the way, if you’re listening to this and you don’t want spoilers than you might as well turn the d*** thing off because the information’s out there dude, come on. It’s not a spoiler-intensive game, it’s a fighter.”
While I recommend Smash addicts look at the final roster, I’m still respectful of those who do not yet want to know…..
And as for the perfect 10, I wouldn’t hold your breath.
@Lava: Nice to hear there’s another competitive smash player here! I was beginning to think I was the only one. Oh, and I hope you know that wavedashing is out of Brawl, I’ve even heard that your character will stumble and fall if you try to wavedash.

! Oh, and sorry guys, but I think and want the PS3 to be the last Sony console, maybe I’m being fanboyish, but oh well. And about the rumble, that’s only good for people who buy a PS3 after they pack in the dualshock 3’s, cause they’re not offering any type of “trade-up” system for people who have the non-rumble controllers, so it sucks if you already have the # of controllers you want($50 for rumble, sorry, no thanks). They’re releasing Metal Gear Online(an online multiplayer game), “the starter pack” is packaged with MGS4. Heh, sandwich. And screw Final Fantasy! 
And Matt sucks at Smash Bros., it’s players like him that make Pikachu players like me hated by other players.

This is exactly why I wanted to move. No chance of online play for me until May.

Wow, that guy is harsh! Ray’s reviews can’t be compared to this – that is – Ray is a nice guy, this guy has a bone to pick. I bet he didn’t even want to review the game. I bet he was fired after the game became a hit and was made into a series. 🙂

I love this podcast for the simple fact that it’s kept short. IGN and Joystiq’s are too long and I just drift off. When I realize I drifted off, I rewind so I can listen to the whole thing thus making it longer.
As for Brawl… GO LUIGI!!! XD

GRRR THAT MARK BOZON!!! GIVING MY STATE A BAD NAME!!! Thanks for the warning Ray. Oh, and yes DJ, it’s good to see other Smashers such as yourself around the net tubes. I did check out that link, but it was mostly just the same stuff from Melee… except that grab looks pretty interesting, and the stale move thing could really be a bigger change than it seems.
Sakurai did say that the fighting was more advanced, but I still am not sure that he knows exactly how advanced Melee truly became. I hope he’s right, and that it’s at least AS good as Melee, albeit a lot different probably. Actually, in some ways it almost isn’t different enough. Well, I reserve judgment until I’ve played and mastered it for at least a year. That’s what sucks about reviewing Smash games as soon as the come out… you never know exactly what you’re getting. The fans continually figure out how to play the game better for years. Hopefully Brawl is no different.
