I expected the Wii version to get a 4, and the 360 to get an 8. Whatever.
Good review, but honestly, was it even necessary? XD
Nice review Ray! You know, reviewing both versions at once was actually a really good idea. I would try to do that in my own reviews, but I don’t really have the money to buy the same game for different systems.
wow that is 1 long review.
I only payed attention to the videos. And I have to say just from those two, that the XBox 360 version is more exhilarating. The Wii is just a tad more random, but I do like the Intro of the level on the Wii better.
Maybe I’ll get around to reading the rest some other time. 😛
you really need to update the review section of your website. Great review, I’d pick it up if I had a 360, as I have a Wii I probably won’t
So where’s the review for Sonic Chronicles? And congrats on your first Xbox360 review.
And I wholeheartedly agree with your statement for werehog stages on 360: It’s as fun or as boring as you make it.
Amusing thing to notice… Ray references Kung Fu Panda as the source for the werehog gameplay instead of where Kung Fu Panda stole their gameplay. Devil may Cry, God of War, Ninja Gaiden, Dynasty Warriors, Drag-On Dragoon (or Drakengard if you want to be american about it), Prince of Persia, etc.
This I found most annoying about the werehog stages were actions that are automatic in the games taken from (grabbing bars, poles, etc) became manual actions and I fell to many deaths screaming “If you’re going to steal from Prince of Persia, at least LEARN from it.”
Yes, I apologize for never writing one. I had so many games I still had left to review that I basically just wiped the slate clean and promised myself I’d review the next one, which happened to be Unleashed.
I even had a whole page and assets made for DeBlob but never wrote it….
Thanks for noticing, Sheppy. I intentionally referenced Kung Fu Panda for two reasons.
1) It’s nearly identical to the Werehog gameplay more so than any of the other titles.
2) I don’t want people to read the words ‘werehog gameplay’ next to the words ‘God of War‘ and imply that they might be on the same level. I consider Kung Fu Panda to be a poor boy’s version of God of War, but overall better than the Werehog (unfortunately), so I feel it makes a better comparison as far as the quality of the Werehog gameplay goes.
Okay, so when you going to do some multiplayer, mang?
Well, Sonic fan that you are, and since I like the way you write your reviews, I’d definitely like to see your spin on Chronicles (one of the few games I’ve actually beaten 100% as of late).
I keep telling myself to continue playing Sonic Unleashed, but I’m just so many games behind myself, that it’s just gonna have to wait. “Warioland: Shake It” isn’t gonna beat itself, now, is it? lol
I quite liked Chronicles, but I have to agree with Ray that the sound design was atrocious.
I end up playing the DS with the sound off quite a lot of the time, but when I had earphones in with chronicles I was always very tempted to plug them into the ipod instead.
too bad you aren’t a creditable source, like those ‘big review magazines and websites’. 🙂
