See Ray’s College Hill Sitcom Video
November 20th, 2009
I made another video for the college group, this time in the style of old sitcom intros from the 60s, 70s, and 80s. It was the answer to our question of “what’s a way to start off College Hill each week with a video introducing the leaders of the group that would be memorable, funny, update-able and would never get old?
Astute readers should recognize my introduction as a spoof on a scene from a favorite 2P START! comic.
First impression, the beginning reminded me of Family Matters, a show I happen to like. Um, is the satire of the your introduction based on a certain comic pertaining to a specific aspect of your social life? Also, a family member wanted to know if the theme song is by Mamma and Cass? Last question, do we get to see any full episodes? Sorry, lots of questions.
1. Like any sitcom, there’s a bit of truth to it, but it’s humorously overdone.
2. We kind of stumbled upon the song, and the only info it has for the artist is Charles Fox.
3. Definitely not, but we may update each scene from time to time, who knows.
I got curious about the origin of this song when I recently rewatched the premiere to the second season of Lost, which features another song by this same singer. It turns out both songs were sung by “Mama” Cass Elliot. The song Ray used, “Different,” was written by Charles Fox for a 1970 children’s movie called “Pufnstuf.” You can check out a video clip of the song as it was performed in the movie via the link below, but just be forewarned, it’s really…um…different. To put it mildly.

No kidding… wow, that was pretty crazy. I really appreciate you digging that up, NinjaMouse.
We finally get a good picture of Ray’s face! Now I can finish this shrine…
Lol, I bet if Ray went to the gym, he’d have tons of girls by now.
Genius! Absolutely brilliant. I’ve seen TV Land-era/type shows with less believable intros. Great work.
So… uh… is Brittany single? 🙂 I kid, I kid.
Ironically, she started dating someone the day after I shot her scene.
Well, if got a new desktop background now, 43 seconds.
Is the reference a thing about that comic that talks about the “pink version of Pokemans”? or am I looking too far back…
Oh my, this is so bad it’s actually good.
Awesome, in the sense that this probably would have been a a sitcom intro and thus its terribly cheesy and happy.
