Halloween Safety Tips

RayYou know, I was really trying to dress up those ghosts as the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, but wearing their individually colored masks looked fairly odd, and trying to switch them up didn’t really help much either. But then I realized that they’re already ghosts, so why would they need costumes, right?

TimHappy Halloween everyone! This is the one time a year where cosplay is socially acceptable, so go for it! This year Halloween seems more festive to me, probably the result of being a father now, having a child to torture by putting her in costumes that are way too big! Anyway, the panels will be transformed into are now sendable e-cards! Click on the images below to send a card.

  1. Swimming_Bird says:

I actually think the TMNT masks work well, but it’s not like they were essential.

A bit punny, but the real focus is the visual work for this one, so I still really enjoyed it.

  2. blaster says:

What’s the punchline in the third panel?
    I didn’t get that one.

  3. rchicken says:

    Triforce=Try force
i.e try using force rather than being polite.

  4. The Gastronomic Gamer says:

I didn’t get the last one at first either at first, but when I thought about it for the second, it made it even sweeter. Best comic in a while.

By the way, I enjoyed how you made classic 2D screens into 3D ones.

  5. JD Fedule says:

Safety Tip #3.1: It’s dangerous to go alone! Take this!

  6. Larry says:

Love the use of candy corn as the triforce piece

  7. Apkinesis says:

Very nice; gotta love the puns 😀 I like how everything is set up as 2D in a 3D world (with the blurs and lighting and everything). The ghosts’ masks weren’t bad though; either version works fine, but the masks were a bit more humorous. Only wish there were more panels to this comic 😛

Funny that Tim should mention cosplay, as I’ll be at an anime convention on Halloween day (since it happens to be on that weekend this year). Otherwise I probably wouldn’t be dressing up for Halloween.

  8. darsfof says:

Can i get the thrid panal in a desktop size… That is AWESOME!!!

  9. Kvb says:

I’m usually up for a good pun, but these…? Ouch.

  10. roadjcat says:

I liked the last two. Didn’t care for the first one. Second one was the best though.

  11. Tacos says:

Very nice comic. Last one was my favorite and reminded me of my desire for candy corn.

    New shirts

  12. Nebula427 says:

Wow, Triforce…. really? HAHA I was expecting something more along the lines that it is dangerous to go alone and that I should “take this.”

  13. freeplay says:

    loved it, SNEScg.

  14. freeplay says:

wait, was panel 2 a reference to the muppets?

    • Dry Bones says:

Wakka-wakka-wakka is the sound that Pac-Man makes.

Wait…that’s the sound that Fozzie Bear makes too.

Wait…did you know that already? Maybe you were joking. I’ve confused myself again.

  15. BadnikHunter says:

Nice comic guys, the jokes were pretty funny, though the visuals were even better. I also thought that the ninja turtles masks didn’t look that bad. Also, what’s Link supposed to be dressed up as? Unless its just Halloween colors.

  16. Snifit says:

Is Pac Man dressed as Mario or is that just Pac Jr.? Either way nice comic. The puns weren’t too bad, in my opinion, and farily amusing. The visuals are nice. All around a good comic for Halloween.

And I especially like how pissed off the old man looks in panel three. Hilarious.

  17. Bobipine says:

I’ll try to keep this one short…
Really liked it, Kirby one is a bit meh for me (dunno why… but do I see sad faces on the candies?), but it makes the other ones better, ninja turtles masks does make the ghost look strange… but clown faces could have been worst (I guess you wanted the turtles as a side punch line with Pac-man being Mario, running from turtles…or maybe not, oh and nice job on the semi-3D for Pac-man, little computer like designs on the walls took me a second look to notice) and the Link one…well thought, well thought… maybe eggs or something on Link’s tunic could have been a nice addition.
    Kinda long… well I haven’t commented for a while…

  18. Dry Bones says:

The logo was better than the comic!!! (Just kidding) A couple things:

    1) Why is Kirby in a boxing/wrestling ring?
    2) Is Pac-Man wearing a costume? My first thought was Ash Ketchum, but someone else said Mario. That works, too.
    3) I enjoyed the TMNT masks. I thought they looked good.

Overall, not a bad comic. Even though it isn’t spectacular, it’s still WAY better than 99% of webcomics out there. Sometimes, I check other webcomics and just shake my head at the lack of effort and humor. That says something about the quality of 2P Start. Even when you guys are not on your A game, you’re still the best!

    • Dominator_101 says:

      In response to 1:

In Kirby’s adventure, there is a minigame where Kirby is in a boxing ring, and Dedede is throwing eggs and bombs at him. You need to eat all the eggs but non of the bombs. At least, I’m guessing that’s what it’s referring to.

      • Dry Bones says:

Thanks, Dominator! I’ve never played Kirby’s Adventure. I was thinking about picking it up on Virtual Console.

      • Dominator_101 says:

It was pretty good. I enjoyed it. The final boss took me a little while to get, because you’re timed, but overall I think it was a fun game. I also don’t really play Kirby games much, so it’s not like I liked it because it was a Kirby game.

  19. DrOswald says:

I like this comic, it is fun. not much else to say.

BTW, I made some fan art (well, its kind of like fan art. You’ll see what I mean when I post it.) but I forgot my usb drive so I’ll have to post it when I get home.

Also, musical misfits! I am going to post 4 every other week, because I have some 120 songs I think are good and I want to get through them before 2P Start ends. I’ll start with the ones I think are the best and go from there.

First, I am suggesting the intro music to Mischeif Makers, what I consider the 2nd best game on the N64 (second only to Super Smash Bros.) Not a lot of people have played this game, but I would certainly recommend it if you get the chance.

Second, I am going to recommend the third level background music from Gremlin 2 on the NES. From what I understand this game sucked (I never played it myself,) but some of it’s music was pretty good.

Third I am going to recommend Zero’s theme from Mega Man X3.

Last, I am going to recommend the intro music to Valkyria Chronicles, “Those Who Succeed.” Everyone seems to know about this game, but only a few have actually played it.

  20. Highwater Trousers says:

Nice jokes, but I had some trouble with the last one. Very clever joke once I figured it out; I had to read them out loud to myself.

So we shouldn’t eat all of our candy in one night, but are we still allowed to inhale, say, random bad guys? We get new costumes/powers and the enemies are taken care of. Everybody’s happy… well except the bad guys. Maybe it’s been done before, but what would happen if Kirby inhaled one of the ghosts?

So yes, great comic, but now I’m going to look at the ingredients for triforce, I mean candy corn. WARNING: May contain traces of soy. May cause feelings of courage, power, or wisdom when consumed.

  21. 285 says:

*Picture of Donkey Kong in a Tooth Fairy Costume*
    Halloween Safety Tip No 4
Make sure to avoid tooth DK

*Picture of Eggman smashing a window with the Egg Lottery*
    Halloween Safety Tip No 5
    Don’t Egg a’Lotto people’s houses

*Picture of a Gastly using Astonish on an old Shellder*
    Halloween Safety Tip No 6
    Never scare illish Shellders

    This is HARD

  22. Superfiver says:

Nice funny Halloween tips. But whats not funny is being a necromancer! I am talking to you Tim! I am raising from my grave with the truth! Tim, I hear you in your podcast over and over again telling us to rise from are grave. Telling how ashamed you are if we don’t and that we should “DO IT”! and whats this about with the last podcast, that you want 100 grave risers for the 100th podcast!

Your building an army of undead to take over the world! and sadly, I am now apart of that army that has risen. I have stayed in the shadows of this website since comic 1. But I didn’t constantly check on your necromancy on a weekly bases tell I read the comic about how Snake from Metal Gear Solid 4 aged from his Smash brother’s days.

Tim, if it wasn’t for Ray with his light dashing shoes of awesomeness and great support for a good Sonic game, I would of never raised to become part of your 2P start army of darkness. Now I must spread to others the greatness that is 2P Start.

But for real, awesome comic, I really like how you two went about things with everything. How you pressure yourselves to make good comics with original jokes and how you treat your users that want to get involved. The podcast is done very well with having at least myself feel as if I am apart of it with a community of good fellows. Keep up the good work and Tim you really are a Necromancer.

  23. Talduras says:

Got a good chuckle out of me with the first two, though the last one was probably too punny to get a good response from me (plus I think that old man freaked me out O_o ).

I bet you guys could’ve come up with a few more, like one that’s a play on the whole “use bright colors when trick ‘r treating” thing. Would’ve been the perfect place for a Mario Kart reference, and an evil road-raging Toad! Or even a “don’t visit stranger’s houses,” which could involve any number of references (thinking Bowser’s Castle at the moment).

  24. randomperson says:

  25. MetaRidleyR27 says:

Awesome comic guys! I always enjoy a good pun (or two), and I liked how the old man in the last panel looks mad that Link took his candy corn. 🙂

  26. Leirin says:

    I loved this 😀

  27. Batty1580 says:

Hey guys. I started reading your comic about 5 months ago and literally couldnt drag myself away from my computer. You guys are doing a great job, and I finally decided to “rise”.

Anyway, the comic this week was awesome, as usual. Keep up the good work!

  28. TheREALdeal says:

I HAVE RETURNED FROM THE DEPTHS OF THE ABYSS TO RISE FROM MY GRAVE! That was the best way of rising from my grave I could think of. I found this site last week, not been that long of a watcher like some people. But I had school off for the week because I have swine flu so I have listened to every podcast and read every comic. This is the best comic site I’ve ever found, so keep it from dying. If a new child can’t make it die, what can?

  29. spudwalt says:

I really wish I had a red and blue striped t-shirt… Then I could go as Ness.
Oh, well. Anyhoo, nice comic! I discovered this site yesterday, and read through all of them to date. Looking forward to more hilarity from you guys in the future!

  30. Chocolate_bob says:

Excellent comic guys, but now that you’ve done Valentine’s Day Cards and Halloween Cards are you going to do Christmas/other wintertime holiday card? I hope so!

  31. DrOswald says:

OK, here is the thing I made. I thought sense the next podcast is number 100, I would do a sort of history of 2p start image. here you go:

Hope people like it, took some time.

Also, I made a wallpaper from comic 100. Made it in a bunch of resolutions, you can get them on my photo bucket page. If you want a different resolution let me know through the forum message system and I’ll make it, unless I don’t feel like it. But I probably will.

    • D3vin says:

You just have to add me causing a Mutiny and getting “banned” at podcast 29.
Or you can put the thing about my creepy comment about Tim’s hot wife who ate a basketball.

    • Highwater Trousers says:

Wow, nice job DrOswald! How long did it take to put this together? Well, you know, besides a long time. While probably overused, let’s not forget that the comic was deemed “used to be good” early on. Sorry, that phrase always makes me laugh. Great job!

    • DrOswald says:

I can’t say how long it took exactly, I did it over the past week and I didn’t keep track. At least four hours, probably more (that includes research to find individual events and searching for pictures I could put in.) I know I missed a lot of things but there isn’t as much room as you would think on 1920×1080 pixels, and I ended up cutting a lot of things out that I wanted to put in.

      • Highwater Trousers says:

Well hey, I really enjoyed it! Thanks for sharing it and the wallpapers. Found one that fits my screen nicely.

    • spudwalt says:

I really liked the “history of 2P START” thing. Great job!

  32. randomperson says:

are you guys going to make a comment of the week for both comics on podcast 100?

  33. Burnflare says:

Well, I finally got off my lazy butt and looked up my password. Back to commenting!

I lol’d on the third one, and the first one brought back memories. Now I want to play Kirby.

  34. Theauthor84 says:

    Triforce? Aw man… *facepalm*

  35. Mirby says:

WRONG! If all else fails, use fire!

  36. zfleeman says:

I dunno. I think ‘haul’ instead of ‘all’ is pretty funny.
