It almost amazed me how many terrific songs there are. I figured by the third game in the series they would be running out of material - but if anything this shows how much the series is improving when it comes to song selection. There are only a few songs I do not enjoy (if I have to play "Story of My Life" one more time then something's going to get broken), but I still find all of the songs a blast to play, even if I wouldn't want them showing up on my iPod.

This is where Guitar Hero III really succeeds: it's simply a lot of fun to play. Aside from playing guitar in a real band, this is such a unique video-game experience that it's hard to put it down. I found myself saying, "Ok, just one more song," far too many times as I would try to move up the scale of difficulty. I had never owned a Guitar Hero game before, and had only really played it at stores when it was available. For having started out simply getting by on the medium difficulty, within two weeks I'm feeling very confident on expert.

While I wish the game didn't get so incredibly difficult towards the end, I secretly enjoy it because I know I always have a goal to work towards. There are a few songs I've seen that I'm pretty positive are not humanly possible to beat, but then I find stuff like this on YouTube.

That video is pretty humorous on a number of levels, and while I'm impressed and wish I had the level of skill as that kid, I'm reminded that I would probably just seem like the biggest nerd ever as opposed to the badass he seems to convey.

What doesn't work for Guitar Hero are the limited amount of stages to rock on, and a smaller than expected character selection. While seven stages or so is a fair number, they all get pretty old once you play 70 different songs over and over again. The small number of characters you can play as is suprising seeing as this is the third game in the series. Why not just bring all the old people back as well? And while you can purchase different costumes and color schemes for each person, the game is crying out for a character creation ability. I'd rather rock with myself on stage than I would the guy pictured above, but that's just me.

The other dissapointing qualities include only two actual guitarists are in the game, despite the title of "Legends of Rock." It would seem there would be more boss battles than the three they have - one of which involves a character that doesn't even exist. If you're playing the game on Wii, you can expect the graphics to make an unnecessarily drastic nose-dive. While the Wii is all about gameplay over graphics, I'm positive its capable of doing a lot more than what Activision ported from the PS2.

This game pretty much rocks my world everyday, but I still wish there was more to buy and more characters and stages to play. I'd let it go if this was the first game in the series, but number three? Seriously...

And the product placement is also quite ridiculous. I don't want to see advertisements for "5" brand gum, and Axe body spray (complete with Bom-Chicka-Wah-Wah girls that dance on stage). You can actually buy an Axe guitar. Give me a break.

This is a great game as far as gameplay goes, and if you've got the time and the money for it - then get rockin'.
